Happy Birthday America!
Every year, we get together with both of our families on the 4th of July. One of our time honored traditions is going to Justin’s Grandma Marian's house where she hosts the family for a big meal before we all head off to watch the parade. The parade is a big one with so many fun floats and lots of candy! Even Uncle Loren and his family participate by riding their antique tractors in the parade.
After the parade, we head back to Grandma's house for dessert and games. This year, we played a game of whiffle ball. It was the kids vs the adults and I must say those kids really worked us!
Later that evening we headed up to a private lake in our community where we enjoyed a beautiful show of fireworks with family and friends. They had all sorts of wonderful food, glow bracelets for the kids, games and of course music. When the fireworks ended, we all headed for home for some much needed rest!
We celebrated 4th of July a bit early with Ellen's side of the family. Our nephew Lane was able to get home for his last R&R before being deployed. We spent a Sunday afternoon at Uncle John & Aunt Susan's house, where the kids were able to swim in the pool while everyone else enjoyed one another's company and pizza. It was great to be with family, but we were sad to see Lane leave. We wish him nothing but the best over the next 6 months of his deployment and pray he comes home safe!
