One night, Grandma Annette called and asked if I would be willing to travel with her to New York City to see Uncle Darrin. I didn't even hesitate to say yes! We planned our flights and let Uncle Darrin plan the rest of our visit.
We had a smooth day of flying and hit the ground running once we arrived in NYC. Our first night we went to Juniors followed by a stroll through Time Square and ended the evening at Bryant Park.
During our first full day, we took in a number of sites and put quite a few miles on the tennis shoes! We took a stroll through Central Park, visited Uncle Romelle's office and we were able to splurge on beauty products! Then we headed over to 5th Ave for a little shopping and site seeing. We visited a big beautiful church, Rockefeller Center and then made our way over to Grand Central Station. There are so many beautiful buildings throughout Manhattan, the architecture is absolutely stunning! We ended the evening with dinner and a show! We hit up Virgil's BBQ for a more "homestyle" meal and then went to see & Juliet a Broadway musical. What a fantastic show, it kept us dancing and singing throughout the entire musical.
Our second day, we toured more of the city. We started the morning off with another stroll through Central Park, then made our way over to the Hudson to take in all the views of New Jersey. We hopped on a double decker bus and were able to see more of the city with the best view. We hopped off at Battery Park, where we were able to see the Statue of Liberty before making our way up to Wall Street. Then we headed over to the World Trade Memorial for a more somber view. I had previously been to NYC when they were still constructing the reflecting pools. While it is still a sad memorial it was amazing to see everything completed and how they were able to still capture the beauty of the city. We ended the evening over at Seaport where we took in all the views of the market and the Brooklyn bridge.
On our last day in the city, we ended it with a bang! We had brunch with Uncle Darrin & Romelle's friends. Before we left to head home, we headed over to LaVain's bakery where we grabbed some of the biggest and most delicious cookies! It was great to see a piece of their hearts in NYC and the beautiful people they surround themselves with. I can definitely say, I can't wait to go back!
